CACSL Office Relocation
CACSL is very pleased to announce a new and significant partnership developed with Carleton University in Ottawa. Beginning officially in the summer of 2008, our national office will move to be situated at Carleton University, providing CACSL with exciting new opportunities to collaborate with this institution's various research and public policy initiatives. In addition, the move of the office and our Director to the Ottawa area will increase our access to, and potential partnerships with, relevant individuals and networks within the national non-profit and government sectors. These and other factors will enhance CACSL's capacity to strategically continue our advocacy and support for meaningful community service-learning and community/campus partnerships in Canada. CACSL extends many thanks to the University of Guelph for its long-standing support and looks forward to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership with Carleton University.
Strategic Planning Retreat
The Canadian Alliance for Community Service-Learning (CACSL) has initiated a strategic planning process to review and assess its current role and identify strategic goals and objectives for achieving a three-year vision.
Detailed results from an initial strategic planning retreat in late January and information about how to participate and provide input will be circulated shortly. Stay tuned!

Exciting changes at CACSL!
CACSL welcomes new members to the Steering Committee, a new Chair, and a new staff person.
The Canadian Alliance for Community Service-Learning (CACSL) is excited to report several changes taking place in our staffing structure and Steering Committee!
As the first stage in the transition to a new Executive Director, Cheryl Rose will be significantly decreasing her time dedicated to the ED role for CACSL, and transferring day to day responsibilities to a newly created staff position, the Education and Communication Manager. Emilie Hayes, an experienced CSL practitioner and a long time supporter of CACSL, will fill this role effective November 1, 2007 to May 1, 2008. Together with support from the Steering Committee and the Working Groups, Emilie will ensure that CACSL's work continues to progress and that all of our key activities and supports are in place over the next months. This transitional phase will allow the Steering Committee to thoughtfully manage the recruitment and hiring process for a new Executive Director by next May. CACSL also welcomes several new members to the Steering Committee. Todd Barr, Executive Director of the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education has joined the Steering Committee as the new Chairperson. Todd brings with him valuable experience in facilitating community service-learning through his work both at the Trent Centre as well as with the Community-University Research Alliance in Nova Scotia.
